March Reading

I read 4 books, totaling about 945 pages. For the year I've read 16 books, totaling 4716 pages.

The Poacher's Son by Paul Dorian. BarnesandNoble.com has book clubs (you should check them out if you like discussing books). One of them is called the First Look Book Club: "This is a unique opportunity to enroll in a private discussion with an author, and to talk to other readers about a book that won't be released for a few months. We'll send you an Advance Reading Copy -- for free! -- in time for the book club. In other words, you can be the first to get the scoop on the next great book, long before it ever hits the shelves!" (from bn.com go to link for A LOT more info, and to watch for future First Look books go here. I hope these links work okay. There isn't a lot of warning when a new book comes up and enrollment fills up fast, so I check it pretty often.)
Anyway, this book was their mystery First Look selection. I probably shouldn't have signed up for it because I knew it wasn't my type of book, but I did anyway. I couldn't get into it of course, so I quit (I really need to stop quitting partway through books, it annoys me when I do it.). But I still love the B&N program, I read one last year called The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe and I really enjoyed it, and some of the other books they have selected seem really interesting. So hopefully in the future I can find another interesting book.

Living Dead in Dallas & Club Dead - Charlaine Harris. More silly vamp books to help pass the time.

Ina May's Guide to Childbirth - Ina May Gaskin. I read this planning on having a natural childbirth. I learned a lot and was very inspired, but in the end I went with an epidural and was happy as a clam and had the easiest labor known to mankind.
